ABOUT MERV
Merv de Peyer has spent a lifetime in or around the music business, and has worked with artists like Miles Davis, Eddie Murphy, New Order, Cameo and Madonna.
His list of skills range between being a virtuoso jazz pianist, arranger, and musical director, at the same time he is a veteran studio musician, producer and song writer.
For fifteen years he has been teaching himself 3D animation, film editing, creative writing.. etc. Adding to his existing skills as a music programmer (Logic).
"All this software works with the same underlying principles, so what you learned how to do on Logic Pro X with music can be applied to editing video with Final Cut Pro, and to media preparation on PhotoShop, 3D animation.. the lot".
The combination of these skills and technics allow Merv to single handedly create almost any type of digital media. Allowing his imagination to run free.
Merv is the Son of virtuoso clarinettist Gervase de Peyer. He is a holder of a degree in Performance and Composition from Berklee College Of Music.
After graduating Merv moved to New York to pursue a career as a jazz pianist and studio musician.
During the time he lived in the USA, he performed and/or recorded records with Sunny Murray, Pharaoh Sanders, Bernard Purdie, Michael Brecker, Steve Gadd and Stanley Clarke, plus many others.
He programmed for DJ legends Todd Terry, Junior Vasquez, Louie Vega, Grand Master Flash and Arthur Baker.
He recorded then toured Cameo's multi platinum album “Word Up”.
He has played on more than 150 major label records, with artist including Mick Jagger & Keith Richards, Bonnie Raitt, James Brown, B. B. King, Joe Cocker and Mary J. Blige.
He has mixed records for Primal Scream, Suede, Babylon Zoo, New Order and the Bernard Sumner, Johnny Marr super group Electronic. He mixed Mi Chico Latino, Geri Halliwell (Spice Girls) number one single.
He was commissioned by Volkswagen to Compose, score (for full orchestra), and Mix (in surround sound) the sound track to the world’s first 360-degree movie.
Shortly after Merv launched the worlds first surround sound music label ChxllSeeker.
2010 formed the jazz project Deep Lounge Music. He is currently developing an animated cartoon series.
